Poor eating habits are becoming more and more common in today’s society and it’s time to get the word out in order to inform other of the severity of these lifestyles. Body image and its importance has become an obsession for some or, on the opposite end, an afterthought.

Bulimia:

*      A series of bingeing, followed by self induced vomiting to prevent weight gain

*      Others use laxatives, diuretics, or enemas to rid their body of the previous food intake

*      Most coming in women (90%)

*      An estimated 1-3% of U.S. women struggle with this disorder at some point in life

*      Some contributing factors include:

¨      Self image based on weight and body shape

¨      External standards (Media)

¨      Lack of awareness of internal feelings

¨      Chronic fasting
